Rainbow of fun at colour run
More than 50 participants filled King George’s Park in the afternoon, with people of all ages enjoying the colourful atmosphere and obstacle course.

LAST Friday night was a sea of colour as Grampians Youth Events (GYE) St Arnaud hosted their first community colour run in support of IDAHOBIT Day.
More than 50 participants filled King George’s Park in the afternoon, with people of all ages enjoying the colourful atmosphere and obstacle course.
“The event was designed to bring the community together in a safe, fun and inclusive environment,” East Wimmera Health Service Health Promotion worker and GYE supporter Maddison Hendy said.
“The strong turnout and positive community response highlighted the value of youth-led events and creating opportunities for connection, inclusion and celebration within the community.”
IDAHOBIT stands for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia (also broadly known as the Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination).
Held annually on May 17, it celebrates LGBTQIA+ people globally and raises awareness for the work still needed to combat discrimination.
The committee thanks the Northern Grampians Shire Council, St Arnaud Rotary Club, East Wimmera Health Service, St Arnaud Primary School and Hendy Tyre and Battery for their support of this event.
Any young person interested in helping plan future youth-led events is welcome to join the GYE committee, which meets every Wednesday from 4pm at the St Arnaud Library.
