Sheep get first outing of year at Field Days

Loddon Valley Merino Stud Breeders’ Association held its annual field day with three properties displaying premium ewes and rams and another 12 with exhibits at Serpentine Recreation Reserve.

DISTRICT graziers and studs were out in force at Victoria’s first major sheep industry event of the year on Friday.

Loddon Valley Merino Stud Breeders’ Association held its annual field day with three properties displaying premium ewes and rams and another 12 with exhibits at Serpentine Recreation Reserve.

Among them was Norm Weir of Kerrilyn Stud.

Warren McRae and son Jack, of Oakbank Merinos, Gre Gre, judged this year’s competition for the best pens of rams and ewes.

The top ram prize went to Kedleston Park and the ewe trophy to Terrick West, praising studs for the quality and evenness of their stud sheep in the competitions.
