A RETIREE from St Arnaud was left stunned after learning he'd scored a $585,000 TattsLotto prize over the weekend.

He was one of four across the state to get the call on Monday morning which confirmed his dreams and years of selecting numbers had finally paid off.

“I had an inkling that I’d won something big and then you called,” the man said when an official from The Lott confirmed the win.

“I’ve marked the same numbers for years, they’re just random.

“This is such a surprise. I’m in so much shock. After we pick ourselves up from the floor, we will do something to celebrate this occasion.

“I’m honestly lost for words, and I don’t know what we’ll do with the prize.”

St Arnaud News and Lotto manager Sharon Durward said she felt a wave of excitement and happiness when she heard her outlet had sold a division one winning entry.

“We’re absolutely ecstatic and happy for whoever has won,” she said.

“We can’t believe we’ve sold a division one winning entry. We haven’t sold a division one winning entry since 2001 and we can just imagine this will be the start of a winning streak.

“We have started to decorate the store with balloons and posters to advertise our winner. We can imagine our customers will be so excited to hear that someone has won big.

“Enjoy and congratulations from all of us here at St Arnaud News and Lotto.”

Another worker at the newsagency said they had a feeling a "big win was coming".

"We've sold a few Division 2 winners in the last few months, so we had a feeling," she said.

"It's exciting for everyone, so many people are excited."
